Thank you to all the amazing applicants this year!
Congratulations to our 2023 Underdog Scholarship Winner: Brady Hall of Northern Kentucky University
My name is Brady Hall and I am a Northern Kentucky native, born and raised. Keeping with the tradition, I’m attending Northern Kentucky University, pursuing a degree in Economics and English. I value economics for the complex ideas it offers toward understanding our communities, and English for its applicability in making those ideas available to a wider audience. Going forward, I intend to study law and reinvest in the communities that invested in me.
I remember sitting in traffic when I got the call: “Brady Hall? We’d like to congratulate you on being the winner of the 2023 Underdog Scholarship.” Incredibly excited, I drove home smiling ear to ear just waiting to tell my family. Winning this scholarship is an honor and I’ll continue through my college education with perseverance and eagerness. I’m thankful BFZ Law has supported me in the process.

Congratulations to this years 2022 Underdog Scholarship winner: Catie Scola
My name is Catie Scola and I am from Southgate, Kentucky. I am a senior at Notre Dame Academy located in Park Hills, Kentucky. I participate in my school’s dance team, National Honors Society, JETS (Junior Engineering Technical Society) Club, Thespian Society, and I co-lead my own club where members try foods from around the world. I am a volunteer for the Read Ready Covington Program where I assist them with any upcoming events following the achievement of their young readers. I am thankful for my family, my friends, and my dedicated teachers for shaping me into who I am today through their efforts of patience, kindness, and genuine care. I will be attending the University of Kentucky in the fall where I will be studying Psychology and Business.
I am absolutely thrilled to receive this scholarship! When I saw the email notification I could not contain my excitement. I did not wait more than a few seconds before letting my mom and dad know the good news, and we all celebrated together with a few high pitched screams of excitement. This is quite an honor. I’m so glad that my experience with being an underdog has not only led me to receive this scholarship, but it has also shaped me into the woman I am today for the better.
